My SD card slot on the latest MacBook (Mid 2012) won't mount my SD card. The SD card doesn't appear in Finder, Disk Utility, Image Capture or anywhere. I know it's not a software problem, because nothing changed before and after. How do I fix it?

To check, you’ll need to locate another PC with a card reader, and test your SD card in that computer, to see if it works. If your SD card doesn’t work in the other PC either, it’s probably faulty, and you’ll need to replace it. Apr 26, 2017  I installed genuine copy of windows in my MacBook air. I am having issue with the SD card slot. When the computer goes in sleep and awakens back, the SD card slot stops working. The SD card reader slot on my iMac has stopped picking up cards. When I insert a card, it fails to mount. This used to work fine, and still does if a card is inserted while booting up.

  • So I've got a MBPr 2012, and recently I noticed that the SD card reader won't detect SD cards. I first noticed it on Windows and thought perhaps it was a driver issue, but then I booted into OSX and the SD cards still refuse to mount.
  • On some systems, the power to the reader is cut off if you use 'safely remove' before you pull out the card. Safely Remove must not be used - use 'Eject' instead. But when the power is off, it usually comes back with a reboot.
  • You may need to buy an SD card reader since not all Macs come with an SD card slot. If your Mac does have an SD card slot, it will be on the side of the casing (laptop) or on the back of the CPU box (desktop).

I blew hard in the SD card hub. Now it is working fine.

This thread says that there's a switch in the SD card slot that detects when a card is inserted, and it can get clogged by dust or jammed or something. If you play around with a toothpick (or anything that fits in that hole), it'll fix your problem. Toggling that switch helps.

for me sticking the SD card in and pulling it a bit out again ( just a few mm ) seems to get it mounted. There's even a video that explains how to put it in and pull it out a bit here

But I find that putting it in under an angle works better:Sticking the card in under a angle with the cut off corner against the top of the SD slot and then pushing the card in seems to get it mounted every time.

My Mac book stop seeing the cards, I used a can of air to clean out the reader and it works fine now.

Maybe some dust is stuck in the card slot. To remove, gently blow into the slot and try to insert the card again.

Sd Card Reader Not Working Macbook Pro 2011

First off, I'm sorry if this topic has already been discussed and resolved in another thread.
I recently purchased an internal SD card reader for my Hackintosh (just a generic $20 one). Plugged it into the motherboard's front usb header and it got power. Tested the USB port first (just because I had a USB drive in front of me at the time) and the USB 2.0 port works great! Then when I insert my Sandisk 16GB SDHC, nothing shows up. No new drives.
I tried a method online that causes the OS to interpret the card reader as 'Built In SD Card Reader' in System Information, which worked fine, but still no SD drive is showing up.
I am an amateur photographer, so I need an SD card reader, and this is a more pressing issue than not having Wifi or Ethernet to me. Does anyone know of a way I can fix this?
Im running OS X Lion 10.7.4
Intel Core i7 3.5Ghz 2700k
4GB DDR3 RAM
Gigabyte GA-z68xp-d3 Motherboard
Thanks in advance!
